    Hi Steven,

I live in Brisbane & have a holiday house in Mission Beach on a hill overlooking “Boat Bay” at Clump point.

Every time it rains heavily a huge red stain of topsoil & ag. chemicals spreads out into the bay then drifts north to settle on King Reef, which is notable as closest GBR to the mainland.

This process is repeated every few KM along the whole coast, as I once noted on a flight from Cairns to Bne.the morning after a downpour.

2/3 of the live coral remaining in the middle 1/3 of the GBR ,which includes Miss Bch.,will be lost over the next few weeks, as happened last year N of Port Douglas/Cairns, & there will be much about this in the media soon.

It was reported today that land clearing in this region has increased massively since previously effective controls were abolished by the recent Newman government, & is now totally out of control.

If this central 1/3 of the reef ,which is where most of the 70,000 GBR-related jobs we often hear about are concentrated,is to have any chance of surviving in some form,& if the World Heritage people are to be given any chance to NOT list the reef as "Heritage in Danger’without compromising their own integrity, as an absolute minimum, the land clearing rules need to be reinstituted immediately. We cannot afford to wait 6 months or a year for an election which your govt. will probably lose anyway, & would likely come after an adverse relisting of the GBR.

The premier needs to return from India & stop her embarassing grovelling to this crooked Indian plutocrat who seems to have a lot in common with Clive Palmer,in a foolish enterprise which recalls the so-called “Khemlani Affair”[a pakistani in that case] which doomed the Whitlam govt. This behaviour will not win her any votes & is causing a lot of social division which only advantages her opponents.

She needs to call an IMMEDIATE election to enable this unfolding environmental disaster to be addressed, & would have a good chance of winning. I sincerely hope she does not repeat Paul Keating’s historical mistake of not calling an early election he would have won when Downer was briefly opposition leader!

Please convey my views to the premier and deputy premier also.

Hi Steven. Maggie and Richard tried to donate $1000 via credit card. The name McLean remains on screen – he apparently donated 4 days ago. Our donation failed.
